WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Penguins have placed left winger Steve MacIntyre on waivers.

If he is not claimed by another team by noon Thursday, they will be able to assign him to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre, although they are not compelled to do so.

MacIntyre, an enforcer who was signed to a two-way contract as a free agent during the off-season, has no points and two penalty minutes in 10 appearances this season.

The Penguins, losers of five consecutive games, will play in Washington tonight at 7:38.
