Wide receiver Shawney Kersey has left Penn State for personal reasons, a team spokesperson said this morning.

Blue-White Illustrated first reported the news late Tuesday night.

Kersey had six receptions for 44 yards this season. For his career, he has 12 catches for 154 yards.

In preseason practice, Bill O'Brien and a few players said Kersey was the second-best performing receiver on the team, behind Allen Robinson.

Cornerback Stephon Morris said he expected to see Brandon Moseby-Felder step up in Kersey's absence.

"We can't think about Shawney," he said. "We just need to get a win."
