The Penguins today recalled goaltender John Curry from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. He is expected to serve as the backup Sunday against Nashville at Mellon Arena.
Regular backup Brent Johnson is out with what is believed to be a leg or groin injury. He left Friday's loss to the New York Rangers in the second period. Coach Dan Bylsma said he doesn't believe Johnson's injury is serious.
Curry had a forgettable outing Jan. 16 at Vancouver, giving up five goals in 24 minutes. He is 2-2 in four NHL games.
He is 18-16-1 with Wilkes-Barre, with a 2.79 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage.
