Penguins' head scout Greg Malone leaves team

Greg Malone, the Penguins' head scout for the past 16 years and a former player with the team, has left to become head eastern pro scout for the Phoenix Coyotes.
It is the first change in the scouting department under new Penguins general manager Ray Shero.
Malone, father of Penguins forward Ryan Malone, oversaw junior, college, high school and European scouting for the club and has been instrumental in amateur draft selections.
He played 11 seasons in the NHL with the Penguins, Hartford and Quebec. Between 1976-83 with the Penguins, he had 143 goals, 221 assists for 364 points in 495 games.
