The Penguins, severely shorthanded at forward because of injuries and suspension, have recalled four players from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
They are Ryan Craig, Nick Johnson, Brett Sterling and Joe Vitale. At least three of them are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Penguins play the Los Angeles Kings at Consol Energy Center.
It would be the NHL debut for Vitale; the other three have been playing together on a line at Wilkes-Barre.
Johnson, 25, leads the Baby Penguins with 20 goals and is tied for second with 39 points in 48 games. He also has a team-high 10 power-play goals.
Sterling, 26, is also tied for second with 39 points through 46 games. He has posted 18 goals, 21 assists, six power-play goals and a plus-12 rating.
Craig, 29, ranks fourth with Wilkes-Barre with 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists in 49 games.
Vitale, 25, has appeared in 50 games this season, with eight goals, 27 points, a plus-12 rating and two shorthanded goals.
