Penguins' Cooke receives 2 game suspension

NEW YORK -- Penguins left winger Matt Cooke has been suspended for two games for a hit to the head on New York Rangers forward Artem Anisimov during the Penguins' 8-3 victory at Mellon Arena Saturday night.
Cooke was assessed a minor penalty for interference on the play, which occurred at 7:39 of the third period.
Anisimov was injured on the play and did not return to the game.
Cooke will miss Monday night's game against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden as well as one Thursday against Colorado at Mellon Arena.
He will be eligible to return for the Penguins' home game against Chicago Saturday.
As part of his punishment, Cooke will forfeit $29,268.30 in salary, with that money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
