BOSTON -- The Penguins defeated Boston, 2-1, at the TD Garden this afternoon for their ninth victory in the past 10 games.

The victory was the Penguins' fourth in their past four visits to Boston and raised their record to 30-18-4.

Penguins center Evgeni Malkin got the only goal of the opening period when he swatted in a Chris Kunitz rebound from the left side of the crease 8.1 seconds before intermission.

The goal, Malkin's team-leading 28th, earned assists for Kunitz and James Neal.

Matt Cooke provided some insurance at 1:53 of the third, when he swatted in a loose puck from the crease for his ninth of the season and second in the past three games. Dustin Jeffrey and Pascal Dupuis got assists.

Cooke's goal became the game-winner at 6:45, when Bruins defenseman Joe Corvo beat Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury with a wrist shot from the left point. Fleury was being screened by Boston's Brad Marchand when Corvo scored.

The victory raised the Penguins' record when leading after two periods to 16-0-2.

The Penguins will visit New Jersey Sunday at 1:08 p.m.
