Paterno to get injury checked during Penn State bye week

Penn State coach Joe Paterno plans to get his sore right leg and troubled hip checked out next week during the Nittany Lions' bye week.
"I'm gonna take a day or two off and I'll let our doctors take a look at it and we'll see where we go from there," Paterno said today during his weekly conference call.
There has been growing speculation that Paterno, two months shy of his 82nd birthday, might need hip replacement surgery.
He has been walking with the aid of a cane the last few weeks and has been watching practice from a golf cart.
Paterno has worked the last three games from the coaches' booth and spent the second half of the Temple game there last month.
No. 3 Penn State plays No. 10 Ohio State in Columbus Saturday, and it will be a game-time decision as to whether Paterno is on the sideline or upstairs.
He injured his leg while trying an onside kick in practice three days before the Aug. 30 opener.
