A North Versailles man was arrested Thursday after police said he told them he shot and killed his roommate inside their Greenfield home last month during an argument about the day the victim's father died.

Michael Randolph, 37, was awaiting arraignment Thursday night on charges of criminal homicide and carrying a firearm without a license.

Pittsburgh police found 40-year-old Mark Senay lying in a pool of blood in the living room of his home in the 1400 block of Bristol Street on Jan. 6. The Medical Examiner's office later determined that Mr. Senay died of a gunshot wound to the head and labeled the death a homicide.

During an interview with Pittsburgh homicide detectives, Mr. Randolph said that he moved in with Mr. Senay in December 2011 and the two often had "ridiculous arguments," according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

Mr. Randolph told police that he and Mr. Senay got into an argument in early January about the day Mr. Senay's father died. Mr. Randolph told police that Mr. Senay turned the stereo up loud while he was trying to sleep, turned it down to yell at him and then turned it up again before hitting him in the head with something, according to the complaint.

At some point, a scuffle began and Mr. Randolph told police he pushed Mr. Senay down the steps. Mr. Randolph said Mr. Senay grabbed a pistol. Mr. Randolph said he grabbed the pistol from Mr. Senay and shot him once in the head before cleaning up the spent shell casings and running away with the gun, according to the complaint.

Police arrested him following the interview.
