New head of county bar association settles in

A Pittsburgh attorney began a year-long term as president of the Allegheny County Bar Association on July 1, the organization announced today.
Jay Blechman, a partner at Steiner & Blechman, previously served as treasurer of the association for two years.
Kimberly Brown, a partner at Thorp Reed & Armstrong, will serve as president elect of the bar association, and will train with Mr. Blechman for a year before taking the reigns as president.
The association has a membership of over 6,600 local attorneys, judges, legal administrators and paralegals.
During his term as president, Mr. Blechman said he hopes to focus on increasing diversity and gender equality within the organization. He also intends to raise awareness of the organization's charitable efforts in the local community.
Mr. Blechman, who practices family law, formed Steiner & Blechman with his colleague Bill Steiner in 2000.
He received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1986.
