The Moon Area school board Monday night passed a $57.6 million 2011-12 budget that reduces spending by 3.6 percent.
The real estate tax will remain at 21.30 mills for residents in Moon and Crescent.
Members Sandra McCurdy and Jeffrey Bussard voted against the budget, which passed with a 7-2 vote.
The budget includes a $6.7 million fund balance and provides recall notices for five staff cuts approved May 9. These furloughs were initially implemented in response to Gov. Tom Corbett's proposal to trim $1 billion in education funding from the state budget next year. Moon Area expects to have its state funding reduced by $1.2 million.
