Mayor, council move to fill board seats

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Pittsburgh City Council are acting to fill several more vacancies on city-related boards.

Some of the nominations were made by Mr. Ravenstahl and the others were made by council members.

Ann Miller Smith of Troy Hill and Richard G. Talarico of Squirrel Hill were nominated for seats on the the Ethics Hearing Board, and John C. Welch of East Hills was nominated for an additional term on the board.

Thomas Kolano, Thomas C. Waters of and Joelle E. Tighe were nominated for a seats on the Citizens Police Review Board. The three were nominated by council members, and Mr. Ravenstahl will select one for the seat.

Mr. Kolano lives on the South Side and Ms. Tighe on Mount Washington; Mr. Waters' address was not immediately available.

Mr. Ravenstahl provided legislation nominating Patrick J. Bigley of Carrick to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority. He replaces Darlene Williams Yanakos. Mr. Ravenstahl withdrew Ms. Yanakos' nomination after her stormy confirmation interview with council last week.

Council today confirmed Mr. Ravenstahl's nomination of Shadyside resident Patrick Connelly to the Ethics Hearing Board and of Hill District resident Robert Wilson to the housing authority.
