Mars will pay a school district administrator $250,000 to settle the federal civil rights suit she brought against the borough.

Anna Saker, of Adams, claimed malicious prosecution and violation of her civil rights after she was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice. The charges were filed after she became involved in a traffic dispute involving her husband, Nazih Saker, and Mars police officer Daniel Tressler in May 2008. All counts against her were dismissed.

Mrs. Saker, former principal of Mars Area High School, is the district's director of pupil services.

The settlement with Mrs. Saker will be paid by the borough's insurance carrier.

Alexander Lindsay, the lawyer representing Mrs. Saker, and Paul Krepps, the lawyer for the borough, said they could not comment on the case.

Both sides plan to issue a joint statement tomorrow.
