Man cleared of hunting on highway

ROCKTON, Pa. -- A man has been found not guilty of a charge that he shot a deer on or across a highway near Interstate 80 in Clearfield County.
State police in Du Bois cited 37-year-old Erich May of State College in December, alleging he killed the deer while hunting in a wooded area of the highway's median in Union Township.
Mr. May fought the citation and a district judge last week found him not guilty.
Mr. May said, "I was charged with violating a section of the game code designed to prevent road hunting. But I was not road hunting. I was hunting down in a hollow far from the road. Once the facts were established, I was found not guilty."
