Police are searching for a Wilmerding man who they say struck his wife in the head with a gun and pointed it at his 11-year-old stepdaughter early this morning in an incident that drew county SWAT officers.
Chief Vince DiCenzo of North Versailles police, who patrol Wilmerding, said officers were working this morning to obtain an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Jonathan Deanes on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.
The chief said Mr. Deanes may also face gun charges.
The chief said the 11-year-old called 911 at around 1:30 a.m. to report that Mr. Deanes hit his mother in the face with a gun at their home on Welsh Avenue. Mr. Deanes left before police arrived, taking the gun and going across the street to an apartment where his wife's cousin lived.
Police knocked on the apartment door there and when no one answered summoned county SWAT.
SWAT officers surrounded the apartment and attempted to reach the men inside. At around 5 a.m., the cousin, Michael Roskov, came out but reported Mr. Deanes was gone.
Mr. Roskov said he had been sleeping and did not hear officers at his door.
