Major roads open, but drivers should be cautious

The area's major roads are cleared and open, but conditions are still hazardous, said PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi.
"Right now crews are out in full force, on roadways that are slushy or still snow covered," he said.
"We want to emphasize to people that they need to be cautious, because there could be icy conditions," Mr. Struzzi said. With the sun shining today, snow became slushy and cleared roadways wet. With falling temperatures overnight, there will be "freezeback," with the slush or water freezing and becoming slick, he said.
"People should drive slowly, and with caution."
Crews are focusing on ramps and bridges, which can be treacherous.
Mr. Struzzi said crews have cleared many secondary roads, but some are still closed due to downed power lines or trees.
