Krenn's disappearance from 'DVE airwaves unexplained

Longtime radio personality and comedian Jim Krenn has been absent for several weeks from the top-rated WDVE Morning Show but the reason remains undisclosed.
Mr. Krenn has not been on the air since Dec. 6. Randy Baumann, his co-host for a dozen years, has been flying solo since then and has said on-air that Mr. Krenn was burning off some vacation time.
But observers knew something was amiss when Mr. Krenn did not appear Thursday night at the station's annual Christmas party at Diesel on the South Side, an event where he and Mr. Baumann annually act as co-emcees.
David Sedelmeier, Mr. Krenn's agent, said his client had been removed from the airwaves.
"It was a unilateral decision by 'DVE management. Jimmy is anxious to get back on the air," he said, adding that he could say no more.
Saying less was Dennis Lamme, Clear Channel Radio-Pittsburgh president and market manager: "I can't comment at this time."
Mr. Krenn, whose name and links to his Facebook and Twitter accounts remain on the WDVE web site, has been on the station for 24 years. Mr. Baumann joined him 12 years ago, replacing Scott Paulsen as co-host.
In January, 2010, Mr. Baumann vanished from the air waves but returned the middle of the next month. Problems in negotiating a new contract were the reason given for his hiatus. At the time, WDVE announced that both Mr. Baumann and Mr. Krenn had signed multiyear contracts with Clear Channel Radio-Pittsburgh. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
