HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. -- A Blair County judge has dismissed criminal charges against a man who sent an e-mail to Gov. Ed Rendell saying that he prayed every night that someone would kill the governor.
Judge Daniel Milliron says Vincent Stone's comment in the Dec. 6 e-mail were crude and insulting -- but also protected speech under the First Amendment.
Mr. Rendell declined comment on yesterday's ruling through a spokesman.
State police charged Mr. Stone with harassment, terroristic threats and other crimes.
Mr. Stone, of Tyrone, says he's had a tough year and that he chose an angry message because he believes politicians "just throw your letter in the garbage" if you are polite. Mr. Stone says he was just trying to express that people are "fed up."
