Indiana County man charged with assaulting troopers

An Indiana County man has been arrested early today on charges he assaulted a state trooper as he was being taken into custody on driving under the influence charges following a wreck.
The suspect, Steven Joseph Peterez, 32, of Coral, was arrested after leaving the scene of a domestic disturbance, state police said. He wrecked his vehicle at 12:10 a.m. and while being arrested kicked one trooper in the chest and attempted to head butt troopers several times until being taken into custody.
He attempted to leave the state police barracks after being allowed to use the rest room, state police reported.
He was placed in the Indiana County Jail.
