Indian court rejects teen's bail plea

JAIPUR, India -- A Western Pennsylvania teen has been denied bail on murder charges stemming from the death of his mother at a resort in western India.

Prosecutors in India say a juvenile court denied bail Monday for Joncarlo Patton, 16.

Joncarlo was arrested Aug. 13 at an airport after his mother, Cindy Iannarelli, of Cecil, was found with her throat slit at a resort.

Indian authorities say Joncarlo killed his mother and dumped her body on a sand dune before washing his bloodstained clothes and trying to flee.

Police who questioned Patton say the teen attacked his mother because he was traumatized by his parents' divorce.

Pretrial proceedings are scheduled for next Monday.
