In some parts of the region this morning, it certainly looks like January. But elsewhere, conditions seem springlike.

A freezing rain advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. for counties to the east of Pittsburgh, including the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette. The National Weather Service says temperatures at or below freezing will cause precipitation to cause untreated roads and walkway to become icy.

Morning ice is possible in areas outside the advisory area where the ground temperature is colder than the air. Motorists should exercise caution.

To the west and southwest of the city, though, a line of rain that contained some thunderstorms started to soak the area before dawn. Temperatures, already on the rise, may reach 50 degrees today. South winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 35 mph are possible this afternoon.
