Predictions of freezing rain for Pittsburgh didn't come true, but the nonfreezing version is expected to cause some problems.

The National Weather Service this morning canceled a winter weather advisory but quickly hoisted a flood advisory in its place, with 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. The Monongahela Wharf is expected to take on water Friday afternoon.

Recent rains have saturated the ground, making it likely that much of the new rainfall will run off and swell the streams that feed the rivers, the weather service said.

In addition to the advisory for Pittsburgh, the service has posted a flood watch for parts of east central Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including Allegheny, Beaver, Greene and Washington counties, from 1 p.m. through late tonight.

Weather advisory updates are available at the National Weather Service website .
