Hopewell High School football player David Posluszny has made a verbal commitment to play at Notre Dame.

Posluszny, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior, made the commitment Thursday night. He visited Notre Dame on Wednesday, the fifth time he's been to South Bend over the past year. He was recruited to play linebacker.

"Going into the trip, I knew Notre Dame was pretty much the top choice," Posluszny said. "Walking around campus, meeting the players and talking to the coaches, I knew that's where I wanted to go."

Posluszny is the younger brother of former Penn State star linebacker Paul Posluszny. About a dozen colleges had offered scholarships to David, including Pitt, West Virginia, Louisville and Georgia Tech. But Penn State had not offered.

The Nittany Lions were interested, but wanted to evaluate him more because David missed more than half of last season with a a separated shoulder.

"I think if I had visited Penn State I would've gotten an offer," Posluszny said. "Penn State is a great school. I just think Notre Dame is the best place for me."
