Homewood resident Lucille Prater-Holliday today announced that she's running for the Pittsburgh City Council seat held by Ricky Burgess.

Ms. Prater-Holliday, 54, who has two sons and two grandchildren, is a member of numerous community groups.

She has a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Geneva College.

"I'm looking forward to running a campaign focused on addressing the needs of low- and moderate-income families," Ms. Prater-Holliday said in a statement. "We deserve a representative who will focus on increasing community and economic development opportunities and actively work to empower communities by giving ordinary people a voice in our political decisions."

Mr. Burgess has not announced whether he'll seek another term.
