The quest for a prime-time, weekly television series produced in Pittsburgh continues. Fox reportedly chose not to pick up "Locke & Key" as a series.
Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter have said that Fox passed on the series. The network also canceled a handful of existing programs, including "Lie to Me," "The Chicago Code," "Human Target," "Traffic Light" and "Breaking In."
"Locke & Key" is based on a comic book written by Joe Hill about a family that moves to an enchanted/haunted New England mansion. The pilot filmed in the Pittsburgh area earlier this year.
"Locke" seemed to be doomed when the network gave a series pickup to J.J. Abrams' "Alcatraz," which had been seen as a "Locke" competitor. A Fox spokesman said it appeared "Locke" would not be on the fall schedule.
Fox will announce its fall schedule on Monday, May 16.
