Forty educators with 965 years combined experience signed up for the North Allegheny School District's early retirement incentive, board members were told Wednesday.
The district offered the incentive in the hopes of reducing staff and personnel costs. Those interested in retiring this year had to sign up by Jan. 20. Those planning to retire in 2013 and 2014 under the program must file a letter by March 1.
District officials hope to cut 24 of the positions in the 2012-13 budget.
