STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Troubled former Penn State basketball guard Taran Buie is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

The Centre Daily Times reports court documents show the charges are related to two cell phones. Authorities say Buie took a smartphone from a campus party in February and failed to turn over to police another phone he found in a taxi.

The talented Buie was suspended in December for violating team rules and did not play again. He left Penn State in April and verbally committed to transfer to Hofstra.

A Hofstra athletic department spokesman did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press.

Buie is the younger half-brother of former Penn State guard Talor Battle. A phone listing for him could not be immediately located.
