Erie cop who mocked murder victim back on regular patrol

ERIE, Pa. -- Erie's police chief says a white officer seen mocking a black murder victim and his family in a drunken barroom rant shown on YouTube in April has returned to regular patrol duty.
Officer James Cousins II had been restricted to desk duty since he returned from an unpaid, 10-day suspension May 7 for the eight-minute rant. Officer Cousins has also apologized to the dead man's family.
Chief Steve Franklin says Officer Cousins returned to regular duty today because he was cleared by a fitness for duty evaluation that included psychological testing.
Civil rights leaders called for Officer Cousins to resign, but the chief says he doesn't think the video will hamper the officer's ability to perform his duties.
