Penguins center and captain Sidney Crosby plans to travel to Montreal this weekend for the NHL All-Star Game, team officials said today.

There was slight doubt about Crosby's status because he has been hampered by a left knee injury and last night was twice hit by a puck on the inside of his left forearm during a 2-1 loss to Carolina, but he expects to be able to participate. He is scheduled to be part of the breakaway and shootout events during the SuperSkills competition Saturday night and the main game Sunday night.

In online fan balloting for All-Star Game starters, Crosby set a record with 1,713,021 votes. He will be joined in Montreal by Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, who also was voted a starter, and Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who will play in the YoungStars game as part of the SuperSkills night.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
