Penguins center and captain Sidney Crosby joined his teammates at a non-contact practice today at Southpointe, but only because there was no other ice time available.

While he has not been cleared to practice on a regular basis, Crosby said he is improving as he recovers from concussion symptoms and a neck injury.

"I feel like I'm getting better," he said.

Crosby, who has not played in more than two months and has played in just eight games since Jan. 5, 2011, is still having some symptoms, such as headaches and trouble with motion and balance.

"The headaches are little more tolerable," he said, and added that it was good to get into a practice and have teammates moving around him.

Crosby is skating regularly, usually separately from practice, but there it no timetable for him to be cleared for contact as he waits for his symptoms to abate completely.

In the meantime, winger Arron Asham practiced again and said he hopes to play this weekend when the Penguins have afternoon games at Philadelphia on Saturday at at Buffalo on Sunday. Coach Dan Bylsma said Asham is possible for those games.

Asham has missed the past 13 games because of a concussion.
