Penguins center Sidney Crosby and defenseman Brooks Orpik are practicing at Consol Energy Center today.

The players misssed the team's final two preseason games over the weekend, Crosby because of a sore hip flexor and Orpik because of a sore groin. Coach Dan Bylsma has said he expects them to be ready to play in the season opener Thursday against Philadelphia.

Winger Arron Asham, who has an undisclosed injury, is not practicing.

In addition, the Penguins have made their first roster cut of the week, sending forward Dustin Jeffrey to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
