Pittsburgh police are investigating a burglary Wednesday night at the home of a man who was stabbed to death earlier that morning.
Zone 1 police received a call shortly before 5:30 p.m. saying that a burglary alarm was going off at 1944 Lithgow Ave. in Perry South, the home of 26-year-old Michael Weismantle, who died this morning. When officers arrived, they found that a back door had been kicked open, Sgt. Robert Jurich said.
No one was home at the time, but a woman who lives at the house later told police a big-screen TV was missing.
Sgt. Jurich said officers do not yet know whether the burglary is connected to the Wednesday morning stabbing that left Mr. Weismantle dead.
Sgt. Jurich said police do not yet have any suspects or any witnesses. Anyone with information can call the Burglary Squad at 412-323-7800.
