Charlie Batch signed a two-year contract with the Steelers to resume his job as a backup quarterback, the team announced today.

Batch, 35, has been with the Steelers the past eight seasons. He became an unrestricted free agent March 5 but both he and Steelers officials said he would likely re-sign.

It is possible Batch might not return to his No. 2 job behind Ben Roethlisberger in 2010, though, because Dennis Dixon is expected to compete with him. Dixon moved up to No. 2 and stayed there after Batch broke his wrist during a Nov. 22 game in Kansas City.
