Federal marshals this afternoon captured a Wilmerding man accused of hitting his wife in the head with a gun and pointing it at his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

Jonathan Deanes, 32, was arrested about 1 p.m. at the Beechview home of some of his relatives, Deputy U.S. Marshal Jason Byham said.

North Versailles police, who patrol Wilmerding, charged Mr. Deanes with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child and a firearms offense after the Thursday morning incident, in which police said he first hit his wife in the face with a gun.

He left her home on Welsh Avenue before police arrived and went with the gun to his wife's cousin's apartment across the street.

Tactical officers were summoned when no one answered the apartment door.

Mr. Deanes also faces a federal probation violation, Deputy Byham said.
