APOLLO, Pa. -- Several Apollo-Ridge High School football players have been suspended from the team because of inappropriate text messages sent over the summer.
School Superintendent Margaret DiNinno isn't saying how many players are being disciplined, or how many games they'll miss because of the suspensions. She says the incident didn't involve sexting, which is the sending of sexually explicit pictures on cell phones.
Athletic director Ray Bartha says he'll probably make a more detailed statement in the next couple of days. Ms. DiNinno says she can't talk about any other discipline the players might face, citing confidentiality rules.
Apollo-Ridge was 3-6 last season and opens this season Friday night at Indiana.
