Terry Swanson, Dravon Henry, and Malik Shegog combined to rush for 429 yards and four touchdowns to lead Aliquippa to a 34-7 win against Washington in the WPIAL Class AA title game, Friday at Heinz Field.
Aliquippa (13-0) was making its 23rd WPIAL title appearance, and fifth in a row. The Quips claimed their 15th title, which ranks first in WPIAL history. Washington, a six-time WPIAL champ, placed second for the seventh time.
Swanson rushed for 206 yards on 15 carries and scored on a 60-yard run. Henry accumulated 123 yards on 23 rushing attempts and scored on an 8-yard run. Shegog picked up 100 yards on nine carries and scored on runs of 12 and 22 yards. Shegog also connected with Dajon Perry on a 28-yard scoring pass.
Washington (12-1) scored its only points on a 50-yard fumble return by Josh Wise, after Aliquippa had a 34-0 lead. Little Prexies tailback Shai McKenzie was held to 33 yards on 18 carries.
Aliquippa had 505 yards in total offense, while Washington had only 114 yards.
The victory earns Aliquippa a second straight berth in the PIAA Class AA tournament. The Quips will face either Karns City (9-3) or Chestnut Ridge (6-5) in next week's quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
