3 from Penn State named to Academic All-America team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State senior right guard Stefen Wisniewski today became the first player in school history to be named a three-time Academic All-American.
Wisniewski, from Central Catholic High School, will play his final home game Saturday against Michigan State at Beaver Stadium. He has a 3.91 grade-point average.
He is a secondary education major in the Schreyer Honors College and is on schedule to graduate next month.
Wisniewski was named a first-team Academic All-American for the second consecutive year after being a second-team selection in 2008.
He is joined on the first team this year by two other starters -- middle linebacker Chris Colasanti and defensive end Pete Massaro.
Colasanti, a senior, owns a 3.61 GPA in kinesiology/pre-medicine. Massaro, a redshirt sophomore, owns a 3.83 GPA in finance.
Wisniewski also finished second in voting for Academic All-American of the Year to Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy.
For the third consecutive year, Penn State led the ESPN Academic All-American team with three first-team picks. The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Alabama, Dayton and Southern Illinois were the only other schools with more than one first-team honoree.
