Celebrations Spotlight: Thais and Dan Salak
Dan and Thais Salak celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 14, 2012. The couple has three sons and resides in Stowe Township.
Q: How did you meet?
Thais: Dan and I first met in downtown Pittsburgh. We were introduced by my longtime friend, Audrey.
Q: Where did you each grow up?
Thais: I grew up in Fineview and Dan grew up in Stowe Township.
Q: Who proposed? How?
Thais: Knowing that Dan was a gentleman and would be a wonderful husband, father and provider, I asked him to marry me after one of our dates.
Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?
Thais: We were married at the Church of the Annunciation in Pittsburgh because I was a resident of the area.
Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?
Thais: The reception was held not far from the church. A total of 150 guests helped us celebrate our special day. The honeymoon was spent in Niagara Falls.
Q: What is your favorite wedding memory?
Thais: My favorite memory is our arm-in-arm champagne toast.
Q: Do you still own any of your wedding gifts? If so, what?
Thais: I still do own quite a few of my wedding gifts, figurines, etc.
Q: What is the secret to your successful marriage?
Thais: We care dearly for each other.
Q: What activity do you enjoy doing most as a couple?
Thais: We enjoy good food, nice restaurants and traveling when possible.
Q: How did you celebrate your anniversary?
Thais: We celebrated with a family dinner.
