A tropical setting on a cool autumn night set the tone for "Wines Under Glass: Toasting Great Growth to a Greener Future," a dining, dancing and, of course, wine-tasting event to benefit Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
The party in the tropical forest Friday night featured the sounds of Finesse, performances by Attack Theatre, carving stations, a giant cheese table and wines from Winery Associates East. Nearly 300 guests showed up to sip and socialize while enjoying the verdant backdrop. Highmark CEO Dr. William Winkenwerder and his wife, Pride, were the evening's event chairs.
Phipps director Richard Piacentini thanked them for agreeing to chair the party and all the committee members who offered their support. He also toasted the Phipps new Center for Sustainable Landscapes.
Among the many raising a glass were Suzy and Jim Broadhurst, Elin and Jim Roddey, Mia and Joel Bernard, Kitty Hillman, board president Susan Golomb, Athena Sarris, Jill and Chuck Brodbeck, Dan Onorato, Dolores and Dr. John Barber, Bonnie Levine and Sue and Scott Lammie.
