"I was going for a blast furnace effect," quipped Eric Shiner. The director of The Andy Warhol Museum was referring to the lack of air conditioning on the sixth floor of the Guardian Storage building, where the museum's "Factory Direct" exhibit was on display. So how hot was it? The evening ended when the fire alarms went off and everyone was evacuated from the space. One way to end the evening! Fourteen artists contributed to the show and all attended the opening party Saturday evening. Nearly 300 guests roamed between the exhibit and the party tent in the parking lot. Hosted by Stacy Weiss, of Weisshouse Furniture, and Mr. Shiner, the event featured some industrial-style assemblages. Enjoying the conversation and concrete were Ellen Kessler, Lynn and Paul Zelevansky, John and Tanya Wetenhall, Alice Snyder, Sheyi Bankale, a curator and editor from London, Cynthia Cooley, Lou and Amy Weiss and Art Stroyd and Debbie Dick.
