The Pittsburgh Middle East Institute's Third Annual Conference included a dinner Wednesday night with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright at Carnegie Music Hall. As the first female secretary of state, she became the highest ranking woman in the history of the country, something that was not lost on the 200 VIP guests who lined up to meet her during cocktails. PMEI president and founder Simin Curtis and co-founder Anahita Firouz Radjy mingled with Pitt chancellor Mark Nordenberg and Carnegie Mellon president Jared Cohen. Other special guests included Qatar Petroleum's Issa Shahin Al-Ghanim, ambassador from Qatar to the U.S. Patrick Theros, and Oman ambassadors Lyutha Al-Mughairy and Hunaina Al-Mughairy. After dinner, nearly 1,200 came to hear her lecture.
