If Paris had a soundtrack this would be the classical version -- Debussy's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" and Ravel's "Bolero." There's more, too, which is why the Pittsburgh Symphony is celebrating "The Paris Festival," a three-week series of concerts for $90. Thursday evening the Paris Festival Ambassadors met at Heinz Hall to kick off the program and spread the word. Three symphony musicians played samples of what is to come, and PSO principal cellist Anne Martindale Williams explained their passion for the project.
Paris Festival Ambassadors co-chairs Jean-Dominique Le Garrec, Honorary Consul of France, and Barbara MacQuown Tucker, president of Alliance Francaise de Pittsburgh, will help promote the concerts and other aspects of the festival. Heinz Hall will be transformed for the concerts and additional soirees into the City of Light. The army of ambassadors included Jean-Pierre Collet, Erin Bond, Tim McVay and David Bush, Cynthia Cooley, Melanie Werner and Julia Gleason. The concerts run April 27-May 13.
Any individual or corporation interested in becoming an ambassador can call Yu-Ling Cheng at 412-392-0495.
