With a signature cocktail like the Hooootini, the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania benefit on Saturday got off to a rousing start. Guests could purchase the handmade martini glasses (filled with Boyd & Blair vodka) or admire the glass art on display from the Pittsburgh Glass Center. But equally great was the view from the just-built observation deck at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in Fox Chapel, home of the Audubon Society and the setting for the party, A Night in the Woods. Although it's been a few years since the last bash, the committee led by event chair Patty Casey and party chair Lucila Andrich didn't ruffle a feather getting everything ready for the relaxed evening. Colorful tables on the lawn and music by the Soloman Steel Pan Band said summer, as did a gourmet taco buffet by Cornerstone Restaurant. Dan Fales (with Nancy) served as emcee and auctioneer for the live auction that followed a silent auction under the big top. Mixing on the lawn were Gretchen and Jim Gockley of sponsor BNY Mellon, Bob and Betsy Kampmeinert, Graciana and Richard Fennell, Bobbie and Keith Smith, Diane Gerlach, Holly and Susan Sphar, Jackie Dixon, Richard and Tingle Barnes, Karen and Tim Slevin, and ASWP executive director Jim Bonner with Leslie.
