It was a banner night at the Heinz History Center Friday during the "Red, White and Blue" affair. As part of the earlier VIP reception, guests strolled through the new exhibit "Stars & Stripes: An American Story," featuring rare early-American flags. More than 1,500 guests filled the place for the annual History Uncorked benefit, many wearing flag colors in honor of the theme. Joe King went all in with his Evel Knievel ensemble. All the guests were welcome to tour the exhibit, but as the evening got going, most were too busy mingling and making their way from the ground floor to the fifth floor ballroom. Each floor offered food, music (Pump Fakes on four) or both. The event, always a favorite with the city's young professionals, was chaired by Tracy Weigand of Tiffany & Co. in Ross Park Mall. She had help from a sizable committee, including Sean Gray, who decorated the party with Martin Potoczny, Ryan Bend, Nathan Boxx, and Hanna Clemson and Colleen Coll, both of McCormick & Schmick's, which was among the food station vendors. Passed hors d'oeuvres were a big hit, especially the little cones of macaroni and cheese. Once the bar line on the first floor began to shrink, the dancing to DJ Madd Maxx on the fifth floor picked up.
