More than 350 guests arrived at the Frick Art Museum on Friday for a first peek at its new exhibition, "Impressions of Interiors: Gilded Age Paintings by Walter Gay."
The opening celebration was attended by guest curator Isabel Taube and the Frick's director of curatorial affairs Sarah Hall, along with Frick director Bill Bodine and board chair David Brownlee. The exhibition features the lush portraits of interiors painted by Gay and commissioned by wealthy homeowners across the country.
The timeless quality of many of the beautiful rooms was the topic of much conversation, as was the gorgeous catalog guests were snapping up so they could linger longer with the images. Mingling in the rotunda were folks like Grant and Aradhna Oliphant, Dave and Brenda Roger, Joel Bernard, Chip Burke and Carole King, Meg and George Cheever, Cary and Richard Reed, Dr. Bill and Cindy Swartz, Dr. Sue Challinor and Matt Teplitz, Steve Webster and Nina Gray, who contributed to the catalog.
