Crab cakes, meatballs and sushi were just some of the savories piled high on plates, precariously balanced as more than 400 guests navigated between food stations during the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction at the Westin Convention Center Tuesday night. Of the 20 chefs and restaurants that participated, it was Christian Mayrhofer of McCormick & Schmick's who was the Culinary Leadership Award winner. Dr. Robert Guthrie was this year's medical honoree. "Pittsburgh's event is in the top 25 Signature Chef events in the country, and this year is bigger and better than last year," said Michele Frennier, state director of communications for the March of Dimes. The evening grossed $165,800 with some of the proceeds coming from the silent auction. Chairing the successful benefit was Brian Boeglin with co-chairs Elliot Pope and Angela Wheland.
