Event chair Fred Crawford was greeting the more than 200 guests as they arrived at the Iota Phi Foundation of the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Achievement Awards Dinner Saturday night. The event to benefit the social action and scholarship funds was held at the Syria Center in Cheswick. Honorees Jackie Dixon, Dr. Catherine Udekwu, Linda Lane, Judge Kim Clark, the Rev. William Curtis, Markus Clennon and Omega Man of Year Rahmon Hart were singled out for superior leadership in their respective professions. The evening also celebrated 101 years of service, and emcee Randolph Brockington announced that 100 food baskets had been delivered to the needy this year. Since 1984, more than $100,000 in scholarships have been awarded to African-American students.
