The holidays arrived with old-fashioned warmth and splendor on Wednesday when the Frick Art & Historical Center opened its gates to 400 guests for an evening of festivities. The annual affair is hosted by the Frick to thank its trustees, donors and supporters, and for many it's a family tradition that kicks off the holiday season. Carolers serenaded guests as they wandered through the festively decorated grounds on their way to the Car and Carriage Museum, the gift shop, the greenhouse and the art museum. But Clayton was the true star of the night, filled with poinsettias and greens and looking much like it must have when Henry Clay Frick celebrated Christmas in his home.
Stopping for roasted chestnuts along the path, or taking detours for cookie and hot cider were Frick director Bill Bodine, board chair David Brownlee, Dr. Bill Swartz, Joan and Jack Diederich, Cary Reed, Steve Webster, Joel Bernard, Chip Burke and Carole King, Dan and Nancy Fales, Betsy and Chuck Watson, Matt Teplitz and Dr. Sue Challinor, Barbara Barry, Donna Delie, the Carnegie's Jason Busch, David Bush and Tim McVay, Bruce and Sheryl Wolf, Mary Frances Cooper and Frick descendent Susie Durocher.
