Enjoying a picture-perfect day perched above the city at LeMont Restaurant on Thursday afternoon were the members and friends of the CLO Guild.
They were gathered for a luncheon celebrating the Constance T. Rockwell, Dolores and Walter Bold and the Charity Randall Foundation scholarship recipients, and to honor Pittsburgh CLO ball chairs Kristen Matty Lane and her mother, Patti Matty.
Seven of the eight high school senior scholarship awardees were there to entertain as well as receive congratulations. Helping to coordinate the student's showcase were Lenora Nemetz and Jason Coll. "We are so proud of these talented young people and all the people who worked on the ball," said Norma Sobel, guild president.
Recognizing this year's Come Fly Away ball chairs was 2011 ball chair Tim McVay (with David Bush). Pittsburgh CLO executive producer Van Kaplan commented on the support of the guild and the promising futures of the 2012 scholarship recipients: Alyssa Abraham, Alexa Anderson, Olivia Meyer, Zander Lyons, Rebecca Love, Gabrielle Bricker, Savannah Spratt and Tyler Harper (who was unable to attend).
After catching up over some Fabutini cocktails, members sat down to lunch and heard the good financial news from Maryann Boehm. "We netted $142,158.84 -- the most since I took over the treasury," she said, adding that "$90,000 has been pledged to the CLO."
Among those applauding the fundraising and the fun were Robin Randall, Elissa Sichi, Susan Karlovich, Mary Ann McKnight, Nessa Mimes, Clare Donahue, Barbara Norris, Bobbi Aiello and Rita Randall.
