Fingers and paws were tapping Saturday as Animal Friends celebrated its 15th annual Black Tie & Tails gala at the Circuit Center, South Side.
Animal lovers with smartphones or tiny keypads bid on silent auction items and donated $14,000 to spay-and-neuter efforts. Board member Howard Ash matched donations in honor of his cat and "son" Sam, who died recently.
Gala chairs Sarah McKean, Betty Rich and Cindy Russell helped raise $400,000 for the no-kill shelter as Cityscape played and the Fluted Mushroom filled the bowls.
